Rogersville man charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault
A Rogersville, Tennessee man is scheduled to be arraigned in Sessions Court on Wednesday after police said he forced his wife to drive to Cocke County at knifepoint over the weekend.
Jeffery Allen Worth, 44, is charged with one count of kidnapping and domestic aggravated assault and is being held without bond in the Hawkins County Jail, according to department officials.
A police report said Worth punched the victim in the head several times when they returned from the grocery store and brought back the wrong kind of beer, resulting in egg-size knots on her scalp.
Worth refused to let the victim leave the residence for several hours and then ordered her to drive him to Newport while threatening her with a knife, the report said.
After he forced her to get some cash from an ATM and drop him off at a local bar, the victim traveled to a friend's house in Newport where she called police. Worth was initially arrested in Cocke County for a probation violation out of Jefferson County and then was transported to Hawkins County.
