Sullivan County man awarded, "Tennessee Small Business Person of the Year"
SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. —
A Sullivan County man has received state recognition for his efforts as a small business owner. That award is from the U.S. Small Business Administration. Each year Small Business Person of the Year awards are presented to one person in each state. Tennessee's awardee is Mr. Joseph powers, owner of Green Cube Solutions in Blountville. Green cube opened in 2012, and is a shipping container, dumpster remodeling and leasing company with a unique twist. The company also designs and builds tiny homes. Powers came up with the business plan and worked with the Tennessee Small Business Development Center while he was still a student at East Tennessee State University.
“I guess I've impressed somebody along the lines and I just want to keep going and growing and seeing what I can do and seeing what we can do to grow and help the area and the industry and so forth," Powers says.
Powers will travel to Washington D.C. at the end of April to accept his award, and he'll also be in the running for national Small Business Person of the Year.
