Surgoinsville Utility Dist. water customers under boil notice

Water samples from a Hawkins County town are on their way to state labs following a water line break that has forced a boil water notice for customers.

A report issued Monday by the Surgoinsville Utility District said possible contamination could have occurred following the break in distribution lines.

Customers who have low pressure or outages must boil their water prior to using it for food preparation or consumption, the agency said.

The report also said the boil notice could extend into later this week depending on test results from the state.
