TBI: Man armed with gun fatally shot by police

FAIRVIEW, Tenn. - The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said a man who was fatally shot by police was armed when he confronted officers.

Our sister station WZTV said that Fairview Police responded to a disturbance at about 1 a.m. Tuesday at a home along Hill Hughes Road.

TBI agents said a man came out of the home armed with a gun and wouldn't drop it. An officer deployed a TASER on the man, but it didn't work. TBI agents said that's when the man drew his gun and officers then fired on the subject.

TBI agents said they can't say right now if the man fired a shot.

No officers were injured in the incident.

The officers involved nor the man killed have been identified.
