Teenager pleads guilty to accessory after the fact of murder
GREENE COUNTY, Tenn. - A teenager charged in connection with a Greene County murder entered a plea Thursday in juvenile court.
The Greene County juvenile court tells News 5 Daniel Birchfield Richards pleaded guilty to theft over $1,000 and accessory after the fact of first degree murder. Prosecutors agreed to drop the first degree murder charge.
Prosecutors say he and three other teens took off to South Carolina after they believe Zachary Thomas Blanchard killed his father.
Richards agreed to testify in any future hearings against Blanchard.
Richards was placed in the custody of the Department of Children's Services and will be held until the judge decides when he will be released.
