THP: Drunk driver kills two Sullivan Co. men in Saturday I-81 crash

A preliminary report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol says a drunk driver was the cause of a fatal crash on Interstate 81 over the weekend that killed two Sullivan County men.

Lisa Reed, 43, of Newport, is charged with two counts of vehicular homicide and driving under the influence after the six-vehicle wreck in White Pine just after 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, the agency reported.

Northbound traffic was down to one lane on the highway due to a truck fire when the THP said Reed hit a pickup truck carrying Jason Doran, 22, and his father, John Doran, 50, both of Blountville.

The impact caused the truck to catch fire. Both men were killed, the report said.

Doran's truck then hit an SUV driven by Dwight Hutson, 66, of Church Hill, who was injured along with his wife Gladys Hutson, 65. The two were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. There was no update on their condition in the report issued Thursday.
