Tri Cities Airport receives $4.1M grant to complete Aerospace Park development
State dollars are now being added to an Aerospace Park project at Tri Cities Airport in Blountville.
The airport's authority was awarded a $4.1 million grant from the Tennessee Department of Transportation's Aeronautics Economic Development Fund. A statement from the agency said the new funds will allow a significant amount of site development to be completed.
An agreement for an $8 million bond for the project was approved in November by a number of surrounding counties and cities.
The project now moves into the engineering phase and the TCAA has tentatively scheduled construction to begin in September, the report said.
