Unruly speeder caught with pack of weapons in Washington County, TN

Hundreds of rounds of ammunition and a variety of automatic weapons were found in the car of a Johnson City man pulled over for speeding, Sheriff Ed Graybeal said Monday.

Scott A. Edmisten, 43, is charged with possession of prohibited weapons, speeding and felony evading, and is currently being held without bond, the report said.

The sheriff said Edmisten waited a half-mile before pulling over for an officer that traveled behind him with lights flashing at speeds at more than 80 miles per hour on Old Jonesborough Highway. The suspect was taken into custody after being caught for driving with a suspended license.

It was when the officer was taking an inventory of Edmisten's vehicle that the assortment of weapons were found, including two automatic AR rifles and two loaded handguns, and more than 900 rounds of ammo. Those rifles were not registered and did not contain serial numbers, Graybeal said.

The sheriff noted that Edmisten lunged at officers while being questioned and made threats to them while being interviewed in handcuffs.
