UPDATE: Court rules in favor of Washington Co. TN in redistricting lawsuit

A Chancery Court judge has ruled in favor of Washington County, Tennessee in a lawsuit that challenged a redistricting plan that goes into effect next year.

Monday's decision ends legal proceedings brought by Gray resident and physician John Daniel who argued that the new county reduced representation to rural portions of the locality while violating the state constitution.

The move will reduce the amount of representatives on the county's Board of Commissioners from 25 to 15. The board currently has two to three members per district and the change will now require just one lawmaker from each district.
