UPDATE: Denton set for murder trial in April 2018
A triple homicide suspect who fired his legal counsel earlier this month was appointed a new attorney on Friday and learned the date of his new trial in Sullivan County.
Robert Seth Denton will now be tried for the murders of his mother, step-father and grandmother beginning April 23, 2018 in Criminal Court in Blountville. The trial is expected to last two weeks.
Ricky Curtis was also selected as Denton's attorney for the proceedings.
The suspect was scheduled to stand trial July 17 when he abruptly fired his two attorneys.
Denton was arrested after his family members were found dead inside their home in August 2015. Police said his grandfather fired a shot and wounded Denton as he was leaving the property at 618 Henson Road in Bristol, Tennessee.
Sheriff Wayne Anderson said that Denton's younger siblings likely witnessed the shooting rampage.
