UPDATE: Greene Co. bank robber, jail escapee gets 25 years in prison
A federal judge has sentenced convicted bank robber and jail escapee Timothy England to 26 years in prison, according to court records obtained by News 5.
England was charged with the 2015 robbery of the Consumer Credit Union in Mosheim and was awaiting his first trial when he escaped from the Washington County Detention Center in Joneborough in August of last year.
He was eventually captured in Royal Oak, Michigan a week later after trying to stab a police officer with a syringe needle.
A jury convicted England on escape-related charges in May but they became deadlocked on the robbery counts. A second trial was held in August and he was found guilty for the Mosheim robbery and gun charges.
The additional year added to England's sentence for a parole violation.
