UPDATE: Judge denies request to suppress evidence in England case
A federal judge on Monday ruled against a motion that would have suppressed some evidence related to a 2015 Greene County bank robbery.
Judge Ronnie Greer denied the request from an attorney representing Timothy England, 37, who is accused of robbing the Community Credit Union in Mosheim and later escaping from the Washington County Detention Center last summer.
England was being held in Jonesborough awaiting trial on the robbery charge when he tied bed sheets together and used them to scale a jail fence in August. He was captured in Royal Oak, Michigan a few days later.
Court documents obtained by News 5 show England is scheduled for a three-day trial beginning next Tuesday. England's attorney had presented a plea deal to the court in February but that request was also rejected by Greer.
