UPDATE: Man charged in Johnson City stabbing
UPDATE 11:20 a.m.
An Erwin man has been arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder in connection with an overnight stabbing in Johnson City.
Johnson City police arrested 46-year-old Frederick Alan Reedy. Police said that witnesses reported a verbal altercation had taken place between Reedy and the victim at around 3 a.m. Friday while inside Numan's located on E. Main St. Both people were required to leave the business after the incident.
Police said that Reedy then attacked the victim after going outside. Reedy had a knife and the victim suffered several stab wounds. The victim was taken to the hospital and was later released.
Witnesses saw Reedy flee the area and gave officers a description. Police later found Reedy who had blood on him a short distance from downtown Johnson City. He was detained and taken for questioning.
Reedy was later arrested and taken to the Washington County Detention Center where he is being held on a $200,000 bond. Arraignment is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday in Washington County General Sessions Court.
Johnson City police are investigating an overnight stabbing.
Officials said it happened just after 3 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Commerce St. and Main St.
One person was taken to the hospital, but their injuries are considered minor. There is no word yet on possible suspects and no one has been arrested.
