A five-day federal trial of a man suspected of robbing a Greene County credit union then escaping from jail awaiting his hearing ended in a mistrial and partial conviction.

Judge Ronnie Greer set a deadline Tuesday of May 31 for prosecutors to decide if they plan to retry Timothy England on robbery and gun charges related to the December 2015 hold-up of the Consumer Credit Union in Mosheim.

England, 37, will be sentenced for the escape charges September 25, according to court documents.

The Chuckey, TN man was scheduled to go to trial last year when he tied bed sheets together to help scale a fence and escape the Washington County TN Detention Center in Jonesborough in August. He was captured the next month in Royal Oak, Michigan and had already pleaded guilty to charges there, including assault after trying to stab a police officer with a syringe.
