UPDATE: No credible sightings of TN teen and teacher

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation spokesperson Josh DeVine said Monday afternoon that the agency has received no credible sightings of a former Maury County teacher and a 15-year-old student that have been missing for one week.

More than 450 leads from 24 states have been sent to the TBI since Tad Cummins, 50, reportedly kidnapped a student from the high school he was fired from last week.

DeVine said that investigators believe that Cummins is keeping Elizabeth Thomas, 15, out of sight and the pair could literally be anywhere at this point. To that point, the spokesperson said landowners in rural sites across the state should check their properties for any possible sign of the suspect and teen.

Cummins is charged with sexual contact with a minor and aggravated kidnapping. A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to his capture and Thomas' recovery.

Maury County, TN Public Schools terminated Cummins last week after an investigation had been launched into inappropriate contact between the teacher and Thomas.

The pair are believed to be traveling in a silver Nissan Rogue SUV with TN license plate 976-ZPT. Cummins is currently listed on the TBI's Top Ten Most Wanted list.

Anyone with information on the case can call 1-800-824-3463 (1-800-TBI-FIND) or their local law enforcement agency.
