UPDATE: Three charged in dozens of Washington Co., TN auto burglaries

Three men are charged in dozens of auto burglaries that targeted cars in six areas of Washington County, Tennessee.

Sheriff Ed Graybeal said Kenneth Moore, 22, of Marshall, North Carolina, appears to be the ring-leader of the group. He is currently in custody and is awaiting extradition back to Tennessee.

Wayne McCauley, 20, and William R. Davis, 34, both of Unicoi, Tennessee, are facing auto burglary charges with Davis charged with 36 of the felonies, according to the report. McCauley was booked on Monday and is being held on a $111,000 bond.

Davis is currently being held in Unicoi County and Graybeal said his bond will be set at $370,000 once he arrives in Jonesborough.

The suspects would comb neighborhoods in the Gray area looking for unlocked cars. Their haul included multiple guns, wallets, purses, cash and other valuables, the report said.

Investigators said they targeted the areas of Walkers Bend Road, Elmer Walker Road, J. A. Ramsey Road, Sunset Ridge, Douglas Chapel Road and Keeland Subdivision. Some of the stolen property has been recovered while some items were traded or disposed of quickly, Graybeal noted.

More charges are expected to be filed, according to the report. Anyone who has information on this case can call (423) 788-1414.
