Washington Co., TN auto burglary suspect arrested for same charge in Erwin

A man charged with more than a dozen auto burglaries in Washington County, TN, earlier this summer has been arrested for the same crime in Erwin.

Wayne D. McCauley, 21, of Connie Lane, Erwin, was arrested on Oct. 4 and charged with stealing a vehicle following a traffic stop by the Tennesee Highway Patrol. A handgun reported stolen from the series of burglaries in Gray, TN back in July was discovered during a search of the car, according to Sheriff Ed Graybeal. Those original cases were based in the Old Embreeville Road area.

McCauley is now being charged with additional burglary and theft charges stemming from the cases in Gray and is being held in the Washington County Detention Center in Jonesborough on a $50,000 bond, the report said.
