3 arrested in string of Marion church, business burglaries

Three men have been charged with breaking and entering and grand larceny following a month-long investigation into a string of burglaries, according to Marion Public Information Officer Ken Heath.

According to authorities, 22-year-old Marcus Hunter Moran, 22-year-old Brandon Allen Hutton, and 21-year-old Nicholas Ryan Sheets were arrested last week. Authorities added the group broke into businesses and churches for just over a month.

The group is accused of break-ins at Dean's Bikes on Main Street, Calvary Baptist Church, First Baptist Church, Grace United Methodist Church, and Mt. Zion Temple Church.

Stolen property from an alleged break-in at South Fork Baptist Church in Smyth County was recovered, according to Heath. Other items recovered include electronic and audio-visual equipment, computers, and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Heath added that additional charges are pending and more arrests are expected as the investigation continues.
