Former BB&T banker admits to stealing more than $500,000
A former employee of BB&T will be sentenced later this year after admitting in federal court in Abingdon to stealing more than $500,000 while on the job.
Anna B. Holt, 48, of Staffordsville, waived her indictment and pleaded guilty during proceedings held Thursday. She could face up to 30 years in prison when she is sentenced on Dec. 19.
Prosecutors said Holt embezzled $565,70.41 over a five-year period beginning in 2013 from 14 different customers at a BB&T branch in Giles County by making withdrawals, cashing customers' bonds and creating fake credit accounts, among other methods.
