ABINGDON, Va. - An effort to help paralyzed veterans in the country now underway. Once again, Food City is teaming up with NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Petty and Paralyzed Veterans of America. The initiative is now in its seventh year to give back to those who have served our country. The Mission: ABLE campaign dedicates resources for veterans' care, jobs, and benefits. Customers can get involved through a $1, $3 or $5 donation at the checkout.

"It helps a lot of our warriors who come back, and they need a little hand up to help them get readjusted into society whether it's education or whether it's some disabilities they have," Food City CEO Steve Smith said. Over the past six years, Food City and their customers have raised more than $800,000 in donations for the cause. This year, RTIC coolers has joined in the initiative with a $25,000 pledge to kick off the campaign.
