New Early Head Start Center is being installed in SW Virginia
A new Early Head Start Center is being installed in our region.
Head Start is a federal program providing pre-K students with a jump start in school.
With the help of a grant from Head Start, the Scott County program purchased a modular unit that will house the Early Head Start program. The program is for families who are considered low income.
Early Head Start will serve children from birth to three years old.
"With Early Head Start children are provided comprehensive services in child development, health, nutrition and services support to the family. So, a lot of family education," Cindy Raymond with Scott County Head Start said.
Head Start of Scott County has added about 10 employees for the new program.
They plan to have the new building in service by sometime in September.
