Police: Arizona couple caught with cocaine, meth, cash at Bristol Walmart

Two potential shoplifters were taken to jail after deputies found large amounts of illegal drugs and cash inside their vehicle parked at a Bristol Walmart, Sheriff Fred Newman said Thursday.

The Sept. 28 arrest of Brian J. Swontek, 49, and Erin K. Swontek, 40, both of Glendale, Arizona, was completed after officers originally came to the store in the Exit 7 area on the report of shoplifting activity.

The subsequent search of their car revealed $50,000 in cash along with sizeable amounts of cocaine and methamphetamine, the report said. Both face multiple drug charges and are being held without bond in the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Abingdon.

Newman also said that two other people have been jailed after illegal narcotics were found at a home on Old Airport Road and a storage unit facility near Bristol.

Christopher Carroll Ingram, 45, of Bristol, VA, and Michael Joseph Hauser, 42, of Peoriat, Arkansas both face three felonies in relation to the discoveries, the sheriff said.
