Report: Suspect leads police to hidden pot patch in Pound

A suspect who led Wise County officers on two foot pursuits was apprehended early Monday morning.

Jimmy Harold Baker, 29, is charged with a probation violation, failure to appear and obstruction of justice, according to a report from Pound, Virginia Police Chief Tony Baker.

Jimmy Baker had been sought on a warrant and when officers found him in a wooded area in the McFall Fork community, he escaped but the police personnel found an marijuana grow operation while in pursuit, the report said.

Officers positioned near a car parked near the woods saw Baker sneak out of the woods and then enter the car. The suspect ran again but was captured after a 150-yard pursuit, the chief said.

Baker has not been charged in relation to the marijuana patch discovery. Anyone with information on the grow operation can call (276) 298-7020.
