Smyth County animal shelter temporarily shutting down
SMYTH COUNTY, Va. - The Smyth County Animal Shelter is temporarily shutting down after being notified that several dogs they've released have been diagnosed with distemper.
According to a post on the shelter's Facebook page, they're stopping adoptions for the time being and will only do intake on extreme circumstances. They recommend anyone who has adopted a dog from there to contact a veterinarian. The Facebook post also notes they will take extra precautions to disinfect the facility before re-opening.
