State Police: Amber Alert cancelled

The Virginia State Police reported that the girl was safely recovered in Pennsylvania and the alert has been canceled.

An Amber Alert has been activated in Virginia following a report of a missing 7-year-old Connecticut girl who police believe is in the company of her father who is now a murder suspect.

State Police said that Oscar Hernandez, 39, could be traveling south in a silver 2017 Hyundai Elantra with Connecticut license plate AG91925 along with his daughter Aylin Sofia Hernandez.

Our sister affiliate NBC 4 in New York is reporting Hernandez took his daughter after he reportedly stabbed his wife to death early Friday morning in their home. Another woman described as the woman's friend was stabbed but survived the attack, the station said.

Oscar Hernandez is described as a white/Hispanic male standing 5 feet 8 inches tall with brown eyes, black hair and weighing 180 pounds.

Sofia Hernandez is described as a white/Hispanic female standing 4 feet tall with brown eyes, black hair and weighing 55 pounds.
