UPDATE: Blasting postponed for Meadows project in Abingdon
Construction that was set to get underway Tuesday for the new shopping and sports development in Abingdon, Virginia has been postponed again.
Blasting that was scheduled in the town for The Meadows project has been rescheduled for Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. Officials say it's because of the extreme cold weather along with some other factors.
Town Manager Greg Kelly says blasting on the 70-acre property located off of green spring road should not disrupt any services or activities in the area. During the blasting, there will be a rolling road-block on Interstate 81 in the Exit 17 area.
The site is expected to house a new Food City and retail space, plus a 40-acre sports complex.
