Stolen lawnmowers recovered at the site of a potential chop-shop operation in Sullivan County has led to charges being placed in Washington County, Virginia against the Bluff City property owner.

Jerry Lee Craig, 66, was taken into custody Thursday and charged with six counts of grand larceny and larceny with intent to sell or distribute and five counts of conspiring to commit larceny, Sheriff Fred Newman announced Friday.

Craig's property on Morrell Creek Road was where Sullivan County investigators found a huge inventory of stolen vehicles and other equipment including the six mowers taken from Meade Tractor in Abingdon on April 22, the report said.

Newman said he anticipates numerous additional charges against multiple individuals in the coming days in connection with the investigation being conducted in cooperation with Sullivan County.

Craig is being held without bond in the Sullivan County Jail in Blountville and a hearing will be held to extradite him back to southwest Virginia.
