UPDATE: Farmer pleads guilty to manslaughter death in Scott County, Virginia
A Duffield, Virginia man has pleaded guilty in Circuit Court to a manslaughter charge in the death of his girlfriend whose body was found in a ditch last year.
Christopher James Farmer was indicted last May for the first-degree murder of 36-year-old Sirena Hale Flint. He was also charged with abduction, aggravated involuntary manslaughter, and third offense domestic violence.
Flint, a mother of four originally from Dickenson County, was found on Route 65 in the Clinchport area on March 30, 2016 suffering serious injuries. She died four days later at a local hospital. Commonwealth's Attorney Marcus McClung told News 5 last year that Flint was a victim of domestic violence.
Farmer entered no contest and Alford pleas on the majority of charges, according to court records, but the felony murder and second degree murder charges have been continued for additional hearings in April.
