UPDATE: Federal judge denies request to dismiss Pomrenke charge
A federal judge has denied a request from a Bristol juvenile judge to dismiss his contempt of court charge which goes to trial in Abingdon next week.
The order entered Friday by Judge James Jones denies the motion filed Wednesday by Kurt Pomrenke. Jones said the previous ruling last week by a magistrate judge that allows documents being used by a state judicial review board investigating Pomrenke for misconduct to used for the trial allows the charge to go forward in court proceedings.
Pomrenke is accused of possible witness tampering during his wife Stacey's federal trial on corruption trial as part of the Bristol Virginia Utilities scandal.
His trial is scheduled for Wednesday.
