A federal judge on Monday set a sentencing date for Judge Kurt Pomrenke on his contempt of court charge.

Pomrenke will be back in court Nov. 30 at 1:30 p.m. in U.S. District Court in Abingdon, according to court documents.

A spokesperson for the Virginia Supreme Court told News 5 on Sept. 15 that the judge is no longer hearing cases in Bristol Virginia Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. That was two days after his conviction was handed down by Judge James Jones.

Prosecutors said the judge broke the law when he submitted evidence to the state's Judicial Inquiry and Review Commission and violated a court order. That evidence was tied to his wife Stacey's corruption trial in the Bristol Virginia Utilities scandal.

The state Supreme Court is to decide whether Pomrenke should be censured, forced to retire or be removed from the bench in the coming weeks.
