A Virginia State Police spokesperson said Wednesday the search is continuing for a Lee County man last seen on June 30.

A Virginia Senior Alert was issued last week after the family of Clayton R. Baird, 81, of Pennington Gap told authorities he walked out of the house just after 1 p.m. on Friday.

Baird suffers from dementia and his disappearance poses a credible threat to his health and safety, the report from the VSP said.

He was last seen wearing a blue denim jacket, blue jeans, black boots and a black baseball hat with an eagle on it. Baird stands 5 feet 10 inches tall weighing 190 pounds with gray hair and blue eyes.

Sheriff Gary Parsons told News 5 that Baird had a previous incident of leaving his home without notifying anyone and has hitchhiked before.

Anyone with information should call local law enforcement, the Lee County Sheriff's Office at (276) 346-1131 or dial #77 on their cell phone.
