UPDATE: Terminated town manager sues Lebanon for $1.6 million
Lebanon's recently terminated town manager is now filing suit against the town and several council members.
Mike Duty claims the town council members unlawfully violated the terms of his contract when they voted to terminate him last month. Court documents filed on behalf of Duty in Russell County, Virginia, claim his most recent contract required compensation if Duty was terminated for any reason other than just cause.
He is now seeking more than $1.6 million from the town.
Mayor Tony Dodi confirmed to News 5 that town officials have been served with the lawsuit and was forwarded to legal counsel for review.
We have also learned the Lebanon Town Council has appointed Jackie Hubbard to serve as the interim town manager. He has been employed with the town as a financial administrator.
