A Maryland man who pleaded guilty to killing a Norton driver in August received a 9-year prison sentence in Circuit Court on Thursday.

Dale Donnells, 42, of Berwyn Heights, Maryland, was driving the wrong way on Route 19 near Hansonville in Russell County on New Year's Day when his vehicle struck a car driven by Thomas Estep, 21, who died from his injuries, State Police reported. Donnells was charged with involuntary manslaughter and DWI.

Estep was a musician for singer Kaitlyn Baker's band and was traveling back from Abingdon the night he was killed. Baker recently performed a benefit concert for Mothers Against Drunk Drivers and dedicated her set to Estep's memory.
