Virginia General Assembly will focus on state budget
The Virginia legislative session will kick off on Wednesday with closing a gap in the state budget on tap.
We talked to Delegate Israel O'Quinn of Abingdon about what he's expecting.
He says the big focus be on a budget short fall of about $1 billion.
But he's confident they can get it done.
He says he's going to focus on protecting finances for Southwest Virginia.
"Obviously we want to ensure that Southwest Virginia isn't left out of the budget process, but there's also legislation that several members of our southwest delegation have that affect Southwest Virginia specifically. Things that we're trying to proactively do to impact our economy," O'Quinn said.
