Virginia Highlands Festival kicks off in Abingdon

Friday marked the beginning of the 69 th Virginia Highlands Festival in Abingdon.

Plenty of vendors braved the rain, including Robyn Willmann who has traveled to Abingdon for the past 20 years for the festival. She sells handmade jewelry, tree chimes and other vintage pieces.

Willmann said this is her largest show of the year.

"We meet people from all over the world actually so that's one thing we really enjoy," Willmann said. "We love to see the people that are return customers come back and we love to meet new people."

The highly-anticipated antiques market opens Saturday at the Higher Ed Center in Abingdon.

The festival runs through August 6. For more information on the festival, click here.
