Woman who killed daughter to 'save her from aliens' to spend 24 years behind bars
A Bath County woman has pleaded guilty in the death of her 6-year-old daughter, according to our sister station WSET.
Darla Hise pleaded guilty Tuesday and was sentenced to 50 years, with 26 years suspended; she'll spend 24 years behind bars.
In court documents, Hise's attorneys say she killed the girl to save her from aliens.
The plea deal took the first-degree murder charge and reduced it to a second-degree murder charge.
For that charge, she was sentenced to 30 years with 15 suspended.
Hise was also charged with attempted second-degree murder, and was sentenced to four years with three suspended.
She faced two gun charges, both of which have a three year mandatory minimum sentence.
On the possession of meth charge, Hise was sentenced to six years with all time suspended.
She was also charged with possessing meth while in the possession of a firearm, and was sentenced to four years with two suspended.
Hise will serve the sentences consecutively.
After her release, she'll have 10 years of supervised probation.
Her daughter's death was reported Saturday, February 3.
