Our current freezing streak could extend into the record books
"We get it. It's cold." Trust me. Any other time, I'm with you! However, this time around - our frozen streak is one of the longest on record in our area.
Our current stretch ranges from 119 to 148 hours straight of temperatures at or below 32°F (as of 8 p.m. Thursday).
What is so special about that? Well, our current forecast calls for two more days of subfreezing temperatures. We eventually climb above that mark by Sunday. This will put us tied with 1977 and 1982 as the second longest frozen stretch on record.
Eventually, temperatures next week could get to near 50°. The last time we actually hit 50° in the Tri-Cities was on Christmas Eve.
