VDH: 34 new COVID-19 cases, 3 new COVID-19 deaths reported in Southwest Virginia

Thirty-four new COVID-19 cases and 3 new COVID-19 deaths were reported in Southwest Virginia on Tuesday, according to the Virginia Department of Health.

Below is the breakdown as well as the changes when compared to Monday by locality in Southwest Virginia. Total COVID-19 deaths reported are on the right.

  • Lee: 248 cases (+1), 6 deaths (+1)
  • Wise: 382 cases, 7 deaths (+1)
  • Norton: 33 cases (+1), 0 deaths
  • Dickenson: 79 cases, 1 death
  • Buchanan: 111 cases (-1), 2 deaths
  • Tazewell: 231 cases (-1), 2 deaths
  • Russell: 219 cases (+7), 4 deaths
  • Scott: 176 cases (+2), 4 deaths
  • Washington: 489 cases (+14), 14 deaths
  • Bristol: 169 cases (+4), 2 deaths
  • Smyth: 402 cases (+5), 7 deaths (+1)

Across the state, 135,514 COVID-19 cases and 2,743 deaths related to the virus have been reported by the Virginia Department of Health.

This is an increase of 943 cases and 96 deaths over Monday.

The VDH said there is an existing data backlog regarding COVID-19 death data.

Virginia Department of Health does not release recovery data.
