Traffic change for Liberty Bell, Science Hill takes effect Monday

A new traffic pattern will take effect for Science Hill High School and Liberty Bell Middle School when students return Monday

Parents and students of Science Hill High School and Liberty Bell Middle School need to be aware of a traffic pattern change, which takes effect when the school year begins on Monday.

A series of one-way loops are designed to keep traffic from clogging near entrances and exits.

9th graders will be picked up and dropped off along Topper Lane from John Exum Pkwy. then flow out to either Liberty Bell Boulevard or Morningside Drive.

The 10th grade pick up and drop off will cross in front of Science Hill's main office, then shoot drivers back on to John Exum Parkway with a right turn.

11th and 12th graders will pick up and drop off along Cotty Jones Lane from Liberty Bell Boulevard.

"If people will follow that flow of traffic, we think it'll make it much safer for them and particularly for our students," said Greg Wallace, the supervisor of safety for Johnson City Schools.

District administrators expect between 50 and 100 more vehicles will be coming through the Science Hill campus this year, now that the sky bridge has been taken down.
