10-year-old ATV rider from Bean Station dies from injuries

A 10-year-old boy passed away after an ATV accident in Bean Station, Tennessee, on Tuesday, August 7, a press release from the Grainger County Sheriff's Department said.

The Grainger County School System has made counselors available to students and staff.

The sheriff's department responded to the residence on Ned Clark Road around 6 p.m. Tuesday; Grainger County EMS was already there performing medical care upon their arrival, according to a report from NBC affiliate WBiR.

The 10-year-old, identified by the Citizen Tribune as Cannon Griffin, was taken to Morristown Hamblen Hospital in critical condition. The child was a fifth grader at Bean Station Elementary, according to the story.

When he arrived at Morristown Hamblen Hospital he was taken to UT Medical Center via a Lifestar helicopter, where he later passed away.
