Officer Involved Shooting in Sullivan County


    UPDATE, 4:30 p.m.

    The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation will be holding a news conference at 6 p.m. to release further information on the shooting that took place in the 3600 block of Highway 11W in Blountville.

    News 5 was first on the scene and will carry the conference live.


    2:30pm Update:

    UPDATE- 11:26 am

    Officials say a Sullivan County deputy has been injured in this active shooter situation and has been taken to a medical center. They would not comment on the severity of the injury.

    A house in the 2600 block of Highway 11W is where the suspect is barricaded has been surrounded by SWAT and official say shots have already been fired.

    The Tennessee Highway Patrol reports there is an active shooter in Sullivan County (Blountville area).

    Highway 11W at the Highway 394 intersection is closed. THP says the suspect has barricaded themselves somewhere in this area. Traffic is being stopped on Highway 11W and 394 and is being turned around.

    Our crews on the scene see SWAT armored vehicles.

    Sullivan County officers are leading the incident. THP, Bristol and Carter County officers are also on scene and are assisting.
