Deadly officer-involved shooting investigation underway in Bristol, Va.


    UPDATE (11:48 p.m. Monday):

    Virginia State Police has now released the identity of man shot and killed in a deadly officer-involved shooting in Bristol, Va.

    According to VSP, the subject was Paul B. Meade, 71.

    He died at the scene.

    An autopsy has been scheduled at the Office of the Medical Examiner in Roanoke.


    Virginia State Police is investigating after a deadly officer-involved shooting in Bristol, Va. Monday night.

    According to officials, the department received a phone call regarding a male suspect in a house on 17 Hillside Avenue.

    The caller said the man was threatening to kill himself.

    Police said the man was inside his house in a wheelchair, with a shotgun.

    That's when two officers arrived and approached the man.

    The suspect then pointed at officers, and the officers fired and killed him.

    Those two officers are now under investigation and on leave.
