One person is dead following a domestic violence situation while a "citizen" is being hailed as a hero for shooting the suspect inside a Kingsport dentist office, Sheriff Jeff Cassidy told WCYB.
"It was a husband and wife. He just came in the front door with the intention of harming his wife," Cassidy said about the incident at the offices of David A. Guy, DDS.
The sheriff also said that a conceal-carry permit holder "eliminated a threat" by shooting the suspect.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is assisting Sullivan County with the case.

Sullivan County Sheriff Jeff Cassidy says the shooting at a Kingsport dentist office was a domestic situation between a husband and wife.
Cassidy also told News 5 that someone inside the dentist office, possibly a patient, who was legally licensed to carry a weapon, shot the shooting suspect.
Authorities were called to the scene of a shooting in the Colonial Heights community of Kingsport on Wednesday morning where two people were injured, according to the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office.
The shooting took place at a dentist's office located on Clinic Drive and the victims were transported to an area hospital. There is no word on their condition.
SCSO Sheriff's Office spokesperson Capt. Andy Seabolt said the public is not in danger.
