Bristol man charged in United Southeast robbery
A Bristol, Virginia man has been charged in Thursday's robbery of the United Southeast Federal Credit Union branch on Lee Highway.
Larry Byington, 38, was taken into custody shortly after the incident.
"The robber came to the drive-thru window on foot and demanded money and claimed he had a weapon. Then, he left on foot," Bristol, Virginia Police Captain Maynard Ratcliff told WCYB.
The call came in just before 11:30 a.m. Police located the suspect in the woods behind the bank near Old Abingdon Highway.
"Luckily, the helicopter spotted a man down in the thicket behind the bank and KFC," Ratcliff said. "We went to that location and the person finally came out of the thicket and surrendered to us."
