Bristol, Tennessee police recruit accused of filing false report
A Bristol, Tennessee, police recruit is no longer employed and is facing criminal charges.
Zachary Hatfield is charged with filing a false report to Greeneville police. Their records show he was in a city police cruiser while attending the Regional Law Enforcement Academy in Greeneville. Authorities said Hatfield filed a false report, lying that he didn’t know how his cruiser became damaged.
Greeneville police said Hatfield later admitted he became distracted using a GPS and crashed into a gate of the firing range. Hatfield has been summoned to court January 25 on misdemeanor charges that also include leaving the scene of an accident.
Bristol, Tennessee police chief Blaine Wade confirmed Hatfield is no longer employed.
