Equipment failure causes power outages

An equipment failure has caused power outages to more than 1,300 customers in Lebanon, Va.

According to Appalachian Power, the outage happened about 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

A spokesperson said a piece of equipment on a power pole, which holds up the power lines, broke.

At that time, the pole caught fire.

An Appalachian Power crew is on the scene.

Most of the town should have power about 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

No word how long complete restoration will take.
