Sheriff confirms standoff situation in Buchanan County, Virginia
UPDATE, 3:42 p.m.
A man suspected in a domestic shooting in Dickenson County, Virginia has been taken by force out of a Grundy, Virginia motel Monday afternoon.
According to information obtained by News 5, tactical teams with the Virginia State Police were able to bust the door and remove the suspect, Rocky Reynolds, from the dwelling at the Appalachian Inn on Hoot Owl Road.
Dickenson County Sheriff Scott Stanley tells us that Reynolds shot a female victim during a domestic violence incident in the Tivis Ridge community and charges are pending against him.
The condition of the female victim is not known at this point.
A motel official who spoke with WCYB said a female hostage was released prior to officers converging on Renyold's room.
WCYB has confirmed with Buchanan County Sheriff Ray Foster that the Virginia State Police are assisting them in a hostage situation.
Foster said a suspect is currently in a standoff with officers at the Appalachian Inn in Grundy located on Hoot Owl Road.
State Police tactical teams are working in conjunction with deputies in assessing the situation that began early Monday afternoon.
