Icy conditions spawn 30 to 40-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 in North Georgia
The Varnell Police Department says "30 to 40" vehicles crashed on I-75 in Catoosa County Monday morning, forcing the interstate to close.
The Georgia State Patrol says 8 people were injured, and a truck has lost its load, spilling a lot of fuel, according to our sister station WTVC.
In nearby Chattanooga, highways were turned into solid sheets of ice because of the precipitation that fell. Several vehicles were found either in the ditch and drivers were forced to end their morning commute by sitting on the side of the road.
