Johnson County police searching for North Carolina kidnapping victim



The Watauga County Sheriff's Office has announced that another person has been arrested in connection with a kidnapping investigation.

Valerie Ann Dollar, 24, of Boone, North Carolina, was arrested on a fugitive from justice warrant on Wednesday the Watauga County Detention Center. Dollar was also charged with conspiracy to commit especially aggravated kidnapping and was given a $250,000 bond. Dollar is currently being held in the Watauga County Detention Center pending extradition to Tennessee.


A North Carolina kidnapping case in now centered in the Tri Cities.

The investigation moved into our area after authorities determined the victim, Carlton Lamar Edmondson, was taken to remote areas of Carter and Johnson County, Tennessee and assaulted.

The case originated in Burke County, North Carolina last week after Edmondson's parents contacted police to report their son's kidnapping and ransom demands by the suspects:

  • Robert Leroy Littleton, III, 31, of Fleetwood, NC
  • LeighKathrine Mina, 30, of Boone, NC
  • James Parker Combs, 30, and Michael Stacey James May, 39, both of Zionville, NC

The latest information from Burke County indicates that Edmondson could still be in Tennessee after he was left there following the assault by the suspects. Littleton was arrested in Mountain City where he was interviewed and told investigators that they left Edmondson in a remote location.

Over the weekend, officers focused part of their search in the Trade, Tennessee area, according to authorities.
