Kentucky woman killed in Scott County crash
SCOTT COUNTY, Va. —
Authorities have released the name of the woman killed after a car pulled into the path of a pickup truck Monday at the intersection of U.S. Route 23 and State Route 871 in Scott County.
According to Virginia State Police, a Toyota Corolla was going south on Route 23 when it tried to make a left turn at the intersection with Route 871. The Toyota pulled into the path of a Chevrolet pickup truck and the pickup hit the Toyota in the side.
The adult male driver of the Toyota was taken to Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, but his passenger, 52-year-old Tammy Boyd of Morehead, Kentucky, was killed. Neither person was wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the pickup truck was taken to the same hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
